Handspun Yarn

I have an addiction to yarn. But not just any yarn! It must be handmade and unique. I can’t stop buying it, and now I have to settle my curiosity and try spinning it. Here is my first attempt and I must say that I am happy with the results!

I started with 3oz. of fiber from Loop called Earth Goddess. It’s a mix of corriedale, silk and glitz and it is so soft and pretty.

I then separated the fiber into long strips and spun it on this handmade drop spindle from Noellenoodle. This drop spindle came with directions, but I am more of a visual person so I used YouTube as a video resource.

After all of the fiber was gone I had a huge ball of beautiful yarn, handspun by me! It was bulky, thick and thin, which is my favorite, and the colors are gorgeous!

Merry Christmas!

This “major award” is proudly displayed just outside of Peoria, Illinois. I’m glad this house decided to get creative and make their own decorations instead of using those horrible inflatable snow globes. Merry Christmas everyone!

Sweet Customers

When I got this Joom Birdie Print in the mail, I was so excited…and confused. Did I order this? I knew it was on my Etsy favorites list, but I honestly couldn’t remember purchasing it. Then I found out Laura from Laurabethphilly sent it to me as a thank you for doing her wedding invitations. It was such a sweet and unexpected gesture and it completely made my day. Thank you Laura!

Green is good!

Jewelscurnow selected my Wisteria Lane necklace for their treasury and it made the front page — very exciting to wake up to on a Saturday morning! This bracelet is one of my favorites from Jewelscurnow’s store. Each piece is so unique!

500 Hearts!

I haven’t checked my Hearts in quite a while and I was pleasantly surprised to see that I have reached 500! It’s really inspiring to look back over the last year and see how much my Etsy store has grown. Thank you to everyone who has marked me as a favorite!

Lovely Things

What better place to buy earrings than Etsy? These lovely pieces of wearable art were purchased as gifts, and I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve kept them all for myself. If you are buying handmade for Christmas this year, you can’t go wrong with jewelry!

Rock N Roll Craft Show

I apologize for the huge lapse in posts! It’s been a busier holiday season than normal, and I don’t see it ending anytime soon. However, I am taking some free time to stop by the Rock N Roll Craft Show this weekend — I just can’t pass up the opportunity to get some really great Christmas gifts! And handmade, of course! If you live in the area, you should stop by and enjoy some live music, demos and giveaways. Visit the website here for a complete list of bands and vendors.
