A great day for Strange Folk!

The 2nd annual Strange Folk Festival was so much fun and I can not wait for next year’s! The weather was perfect and the whole thing was really well organized, thanks to Autumn Wiggins aka “Strange Girl in Charge”. I was really impressed with the amount of people who came to check it out. I hardly had time to leave my table so I could walk around and see all there was to see! I sold most of my necklaces and almost all of my stationery. I’ll have to make sure to make twice the amount for next year!

Luckily, I had a table next to Sara from Saraprettyfun, who really helped me keep my cool the whole week prior to the big day. She had the best ideas and I was so excited to see her display — she had some really great items and people were constantly surrounding her table. Best of all, I was able to make a couple of trades with Sara and my friend Stu from Clay Monk Dojo. That’s his pottery in the pics you see here. Really cool stuff.

Ema from Emalisa had a great variety of her recycled doors. My favorite piece is the black postcard table. She cut up colorful postcards from around the world and artfully arranged them on the surface of the table. The result is stunning and I really want to own this!

All in all, the day was perfect and I’m happy that I was a part of it.
I couldn’t have done it without out my mom, who was sweet enough to come and stay with me the whole day. Thanks mom!

Handmade Yarn

inhope_onesheep.jpg

I had no idea that handmade yarn could be so cool! It has been years since I’ve picked up a crochet hook, but this yarn I found on Etsy had me itching to crochet something. I purchased a skein of pretty pinks/purples/oranges from OneSheepHill. This yarn is sooo soft and the colors are amazingly vibrant! My favorite part is the little flowers that are threaded in throughout. I also purchased some yarn called “Brown Betty” from InHope. I fell in love with the mix of colors and the tiny sequins and buttons that were threaded into this skein. It’s so unique and I know I will get tons of compliments on the scarf I made with it. Here are some pics of my cozy creations:

I couldn’t stop there! I also purchased some yarn from Spindelicious. It’s called Midsummer Nights Dream and I think it’s the perfect name for such an exquisite mix of fibers! The yarn was packaged so nicely and is even more beautiful in person. Beth even threw in a lovely freebie for me to try!

I made a scarf with the Midsummer Nights Dream and added some vintage pink glass beads to the finished piece. I have hearted many more skeins on Etsy from various shops, and as the weather turns colder I know I will be purchasing several more balls of yummy yarn! Beth is working on a custom skein for me now and I can’t wait to get it! I’ll post some pics once it’s ready!

Preparing for Strange Folk

falljewelry.jpg

I haven’t had time to post  as much lately since every spare moment I have is dedicated to preparing for the Strange Folk Festival. I am greatly looking forward to this exciting event! I’ll be selling next to Sara from Saraprettyfun and the super sweet girls from Craft Mafia!

As I was finishing up my fall weddings, I was inspired to create some new fall jewelry! I’m happy with the way these new necklaces turned out and I think they will be well accepted at Strange Folk. I look forward to seeing you all there! For those who can’t make it, check back here and I will post some pics and highlights of the big day!
